I had a recurrent dream as a child. I was riding a train, wondering when I would finally get to my destination. Soon I realized that it wasn’t an ordinary train journey but a quintessential symbol of human existence. As we traverse the hills and valleys of life, the destination remains within us, as does the journey, as does the place of departure — paradoxically intertwined.
Hope is both the longing to experience joy in the face of suffering and the quiet aspiration to grow through and beyond it. Inner peace is the state of blissful acceptance of the world and the self.
We spend our lives barreling forward through the beautiful chaos toward a final destination, yet in our minds, we have already arrived at the platforms of our deepest dreams and aspirations. We are always going, and we are already there.
I am Astore Faber. I exist simultaneously here at this central Junction and aboard every train departing from it. Look closely, and you might catch my suited silhouette—identifiable by the symbolic emblem that serves as my head—peering back at you from a passing window.
I am simultaneously present at every stop the trains take, shuffling the Tarot of The Fool to lay down new tracks, translate the shifting landscape, and document a multi-portal trip through the human subconscious.
Stories of Hope & Inner Peace (SOHAIP) invites you to step inside the observation car. Here, you are invited to walk beside characters who seek luminous states of mind down winding, illusory, and at times bizarre paths of their destinies.
These journeys are mirrors: mystical portals that invite ghosts of self-reflection, spirits of discovery, and kindle the light of quiet change. The roots of this entire universe run deep; its original blueprint was subconsciously mapped out in a regular, unillustrated manuscript I penned over twenty years ago—an ancient logbook I am restoring today.
The visual landscape out the train window is cozy yet transcendental—delightful, odd, and often humorous. Inspired by medieval illustrations where meaning outweighs realism, the artwork reflects life’s challenges through naive imagery and symbolic play. Even in the face of complex emotions or dramatic events, the style remains light-hearted, offering a smile amid the turmoil.
Each piece begins with a feeling—an emotional thread or idea waiting to be seen. I sketch intuitively, then build the image digitally, layering textures until the balance, clarity, and intensity feel just right. The accompanying texts are free-flowing insights—sometimes fragmented, sometimes strange—always seeking clarity through the act of expression.
Come along down a winding path of faded dreams, forgotten symbols, and mysterious signs.
Embrace your passions and energies and lay them before you. Let them blend, link, and interweave with the essence of the journey. Let them become your angels—your guiding lights—your inmost selves.
Step aboard and join me. Let us traverse this wondrous human journey together.
